TranScreen aims to show worldwide productions, of all genres, that show the transgender, transsexual and genderqueer perspective. A positive empowerment of people that seek to challenge the gender binary, or make it less tight, to say the least.

our aim
The TranScreen Film Festival is a film festival that aims to focus on trans* culture and on trans* community (and their friends, family and allies).
The festival is the successor of the NTGF (Nederlands Transgender Film Festival) Amsterdam. TranScreen will take place june 1 – 5, 2011.

The festival has the aim to show filmproductions from the entire globe that are of fine quality and/or challenging, specifically dealing with gender diversity, thus making the audience more aware of transgender people and their pluriformity.
This will push their visibility and enhance both recognision as well as acceptance of transgender people.
Apart from that this festival is also a great way for community building.
The aim here is to stimulate the empowerment of trangenders of all ages, and any gender whatsoever!

My name is Wang Leijun, and I’m a director from the People’s Republic of China.
This application is for my documentary, Lost in Shanghai, which is about how Lan, a young man born to a poor Muslim family in rural China arrived in Shanghai, subsequently took on gender reassignment surgery, and eventually found his way home. The documentary was the opening film at the Shanghai Pride Film Festival in 2011, and was very well received.
I would appreciate it very much if you could consider my application.
If you would like to submit your film to our festival, please send in a preview DVD as soon as possible – more details on our submission page here: http://transcreen.wordpress.com/submissions/
We do not accept YouTube trailers, since we need to review the entire film and see if it might fit in our programme.
